Winterizing Tips for Your Home
- Turn water off at main supply valve
outside the house unless the heating system uses water. Tag the valve - DO NOT TURN ON -
WINTERIZED.
- Drain hot water heaters and shut off
gas or electricity to tank.
- Put anti-freeze in toilet tanks.
- Fill all traps with anti-freeze.
- Tape shut and tag toilet bowls with
DO NOT USE - WINTERIZED.
- Tag sinks and faucets - DO NOT USE.
- Set thermostat at 55-60 degrees and
tag - DO NOT CHANGE.
- Check furnace to see if it is in
operating condition. Light gas pilot if necessary.
